OK, let's look at how to add color to the backgrounds of web pages, and to cells within tables to add emphasis or to display a pleasing appearance to the viewer. legend

Adding a background color or an image:

When inserting a background image, remember to acquire your image ahead of time and place that image in a folder or place where the web site is being housed. It does not work to link to an image that is not within your web space. It slows or sometimes completely ruins the download of your page.

  1. Modify > Page Properties
  2. Under the category "Appearance", choose a background color by using the drop-down menu or typing in the hexadecimal number in the box provided.
  3. For an image, go to "Background Image" and browse for the image which you should have already placed in your web site space in an appropriate folder.

Background color can add a theme to your page, interest and appeal. It can also add information if the right graphic is chosen.

For an image, browse for an image you've saved. See the Video to the left for an example.

Remember that an image should not overwhelm the information, so text it out before you publish it for an audience to see.

  1. Select a cell or multiple cells.
  2. Use the drop down arrow "Bg" or place a hexadecimal number in the appropriate box to choose a cell color.

Border colors can enhance the overall color scheme of a web page significantly, especially if the border width is enlarged.

  1. Select the table.
  2. Use the drop-down menu beside "Brdr" to choose a color.
